WARNING !!  USB 2 issue on MacBook and MacBook Pro

A bug was discovered on MacBook and MacBook Pro running with MacOS 10.4.9 that prevents the MINIR82 or the Internal Recorder of the SONOSAX SX-ST mixer to mount onto the computer Desktop

After days of analysis, SONOSAX engineers can confirm that the DSP/USB2 board and the software of both
the MINIR82 and the SX-ST internal Recorder are fine.

This issue appears only on Apple computers equipped with an Intel dual core or Intel Xeon processor and running with Mac OS 10.4.9
The system works fine with Apple-G4, Apple-G5 or other series when not equipped with an Intel Dual core or Xeon Processor, even if running with Mac OS 10.4.9

A temporary solution for MacBook or MacBook Pro users is to lauch a Windows session or to boot the MacBook's (bootcamp ) with a Windows or Linux session to connect your MINIR82 and transfert your audio files to your computer.
Once transfered you can use and edit your recorded files under a MacOS session with your prefered Editing Software as usual.

Notice about USB2 cables

We would like to remind you that only "HIGH SPEED Certified "  USB-2 cables must be used to connect a MINIR82 or the SX-ST Internal Recorder to any computer.

Using non High Speed USB2 cable may lead to unpredictable results, and may even prevent the MINIR82 or the SX-ST Recorder to mount on your computer desktop

Notices about CompactFlash Cards

As you surely know, not each and every CompactFlash Card are equal. Some manufacturers are keen to announce fantastic performances that are some time quite unrealistic. Another critical aspect is the fact that not every CF Card manufacturer complies with the CF Card standards and specifications.
For use with the MINIR82 or the SX-ST Internal Recorder, a suitable CF card must be capable to sustain a continous flow of data in both read and write mode, and must be 100% CF Card compliant.

SONOSAX has not analized each and every card available on the market but we can surely recommand the SanDisk ULTRA2 of  1, 2 and 4 Gb.

The more recent SanDisk ULTRA2 8Gb   CF Card works perfecly well in Record and Play mode with the MINIR82 and with then SX-ST Recorder
however
if this card is inserted in your recorder while being connected to your computer, then your Recorder will not mount on your desktop.
You may use this 8GB CF Card but make sure that you remove it from your Recorder before attempting to connect it to your computer. You can connect your CF Card separately to your computer by using a conventional USB-2 Card adapter.

Some Kingston CF Cards also have good recording results but some may prevent the MINIR82 or the SX-ST Recorder to mount on your computer desktop while inserted in your recorder. Again, use a separate CF Card adapter to connect this card to your computer.

Limitation of the maximum numbers of TAKE

The maximum guaranteed numbers of "TAKES" within the same SCENE Folder is currently limited to 80 takes.
This limitation concerns the numbers of TAKES and not the numbers of Audio files ( a TAKE usually contains several audio files , depending on how many tracks were assigned ).

If the maximum of  80 TAKES is reached, it is recommanded to create a new SCENE ( which means a new folder ), otherwise the Recorder may becomes unstable and even unable to boot properly.

This limitation issue will be solved within the next software release.
